Diane has the reddest flowers of the group, with an infusion of copper. They are faintly fragrant. The fall color ranges from non-existent through gold and red.

Our native yarrow is one of our most common prairie plants and can be found in both wet and dry prairies. It is quick to establish on restoration sites so is great to use for enhancement or on disturbed areas. This member of the carrot family attracts many different pollinators and beneficial insects making it an important habitat plant. It can have white to pink flowers, 1-2 ft.

Large-flowered agoseris is found on thin-soiled upland prairies and rocky balds. It has a large rosette of cut-leaves and dandelion-type flowers that close by mid-morning. The flowers become a big white ball of fluff when in seed. As with our lawn dandelion, it will re-flower after it is cut. 1-2 ft.

The Monarch butterfly host plant with great retail appeal, so it's easy to sell. It is unusual and showy with 3-in., globes of pink-tinged, star-shaped flowers. This increasingly rare plant is the only genus on which Monarch butterflies will deposit eggs. The nectar-filled flowers, opening late summer, exude a pleasing sweet fragrance and produce magnificent seed pods. 2-3 ft. tall.

This one of our few upland prairie sedges. It forms large clumps and has delicate nodding flower heads.

Delicate blue "snapdragon" shaped flowers, 0.5-2 ft tall. A winner in the restoration world, persisting on sites as the perennials fill in. Found in dry rocky sites and upland prairies.

A tight cluster of purple lily flowers grace the top of long stems. 1-2 ft tall.

Provides a very long-lived showing of golden daisies to the mid-spring and summer landscape. The wooly leaves form a dense, nearly evergreen mat 1-2' tall. The flowers seem to float above the greenery in the Willamette Valley, where it grows among taller grass. Our iridescent solitary bees are very common sight on the large purple-violet flowers that are presented over a long period; June through early July. 16" tall, 20" wide. Bright yellow rosaceous flowers clustered in upper leaf axils, compound lobed leaves, 2-3 ft tall when in flower. Does very well in a garden setting often blooming again after deadheading. Native to wetlands, streambanks and woodland edges..

This native annual is most often found in dry, rocky outcrops and does best without competition from perennials. It has numerous baby-blue, globe-like flowers in heads. 3-5 ft tall.

Beautiful, soft, fine leaved bunch grass, spike of soft tan flowers, low growing, 3 ft in flower.

Great texture plant, highly dissected leaves (light and feathery), nice showy PURPLE head of flowers, very tall (4-5 ft flowering stems). Does well in both full sun and light shade.

With dark green finely dissected leaves, this biscuitroot produces new growth in the fall and blooms in May with a seemingly never-ending supply of brilliant gold-yellow flowers. It produces an outstandingly beautiful show. It is drought resistant.

This species of wild carrot is native to western North America and was an important and often a staple food plant for many Native American groups. In Western Oregon, it is found in both wet and dry prairies. The stems are very tall, but delicate often reaching 5 feet at peak flowering.

Medium-height bunch grass with thin, blue-green leaves, flowers in soft, tufted spikes, 3-4 ft in flower. Forms of pine-bluegrass can be found on dry, rocky bluffs as well as wet prairies.

This checkermallow grows many upright stems to 4 ft. or more covered in showy white to pale pink flowers, May-June. When using in the garden, cut back after flowering to get more flowers. Forms large robust clumps and is an easy perennial. It has proven a winner on restoration sites establishing quickly and persisting over the long-haul. It is found in both wet and dry prairies. There are both early (May) and later (June-July) blooming forms of which we carry both. Host plant for Gray Hairstreak and nectar for: Fenders Blue, Taylor's Checkerspot, and Checkered Skipper.

Very showy, large yellow flowers (sunflower family), large expressive leaves (aka "mule's ears"). The seeds are large and attract goldfinches at the height of summer. Nectar species for Field Cresent butterflies.

One of the less familiar cultivars, 'Fireglow' is red-leaved and looks somewhat like 'Bloodgood' but grows slower and denser. It is redder during the summer, becoming purple/red with green by fall.

Unusual for its yellow to lime-green summer foliage, and tufts of soft, smoky gray flowers. A small but vigorous tree, it grows best in full sun and closes out the summer with fall colors of pink, red, and orange.

Half the size of most other cultivars, this one shares their tough constitution and season-long appeal. Upright flowers emerge cream-colored and become a surprising wine-red color with age.

During the 2011 Magnolia Society meeting in Rhode Island, a majority of ladies in the crowd raved about this abundant bloomer with its rosy-accented flowers. It's a wonderful selection due to the warm color tones, blooming later than any of the other yellows and before the emergent leaves. August Kehr, the hybridizer, would have never accepted much credit for this plant he created, but he deserves all our thanks for his exceptional work, including this plant. Interesting story: On the way to see Augie from Raleigh, NC Pat McCracken and Mark Krautmann decided to accept August's invitation to name all of his (at that time, only numbered) superior yellows. Before we got to Hendersonville, where he and his wife lived, we came up with Stellar Acclaim, Sunsation, Solar Eclipse, Hot Flash, and Sunspire. Augie was too modest to name his own "children".

More strongly weeping than most selections in its group, and wider color changes: orange to red to dark greenish red and back to bright red-orange in the fall.

This early blooming species has delicate blue flowers nestled in tufts of dark green leaves. In a wildlife garden, the long-bloom period makes it a great bedding plant. Hookedspur violet is a used a both a nectar and larval host for a variety of butterflies. It does best on upland restoration sites where competition from invasive plants and grassy thatch are kept to a minimum. 4-8 inches tall.

Meadow deathcamas may have a bad rap for due to its toxicity to mammals but as a habitat plant for pollinators it is incredibly important. It grows in many habitats though out the west from dry sage-brush steppe to upland prairies. It has abundant star-like, cream-colored flowers bloom in late-spring and attract many species of bees. Death camas is unrelated to Camassia species which were an important food plant for Native Americans

Bright green plant with pyramidal flower clusters and stout, triangular stems, 15-35" tall. This sedge is common in the wetter portions of prairies.

This sedge is commonly found in wet prairies and ditches. It is 12-30" tall, has yellowish-green foliage, is densely bunched, and has compact flower heads. It adds great texture to a garden when planted along a drainage.

Our native Willamette Valley shooting star adorns our wetland prairies in the spring with a splash of hot pink. Combined with common camas, the landscape in April resembles an impressionist painting. There are multiple flowers on top of 15 inch stems. The brown seed pods also add early summer interest when used in landscape plantings.

Wonderfully tall bunch grass with delicate inflorescence. Undersides of leaves are blue-green, 3-5 ft in flower. Shade tolerant.

Another really great summer blooming umbel for the garden. A slender 2' perennial with delicate, grass-like leaves and several compound umbels of minute white flowers. Similar to the invasive Queen Anne's Lace but much more elegant. Best planted in tight clumps.

Pretty annual with more delicate flowers than C. amoena with clawed petals. Found most often in dry, rocky habitat. A great addition to a rock garden. 2-3 ft tall.

Gorgeous sunflower! Multiple flowering stems provide spring blossoms. Found in upland prairies and rocky bald with our native Oregon White Oak. 2-3 ft tall. The seeds are a favorite of goldfinches returning from migration.

This early-blooming species has deep yellow flowers and soft, fuzzy leaves. In a wildlife garden, the long-bloom period makes it a great bedding plant. It grows in moist to dry open woodlands and prairie where it attracts a variety of early pollinators. It does best on upland restoration sites where competition from invasive plants and grassy thatch are kept to a minimum. 8-10 inches tall.

Under appreciated for its very show pink flowers that attract multiple pollinators. This is a integral part of our wetland habitants in the West. Willamette Valley ecotype for use in revegetation.

Some plants are described as having red flowers, but the term "red" used here in the cultivar name misinforms those who have not seen it in flower. Many firms list flowers as "fuchsia pink". It's certainly not blood-red like Rosa moyesii, but this selection is a distinctively much brighter pink than seedlings. So it catches your eye - one of our favorites. Its flowers closely match the intense pink color of Prunus campanulata.

Deep purple, shiny leaves, upright when young, spreading to form a 60 ft. globe at maturity. Long in cultivation: cemeteries in many Eastern US cities were often planted with this variety, or other purple beeches that have grown to enormous impressive specimens. Fast-growing in the nursery, they make great field plants to bump later into a #15-20 container.

Relatively tight upright form, but not as columnar as the Dawyck selections. Its incised purple leaves with their wavy edges give this popular selection its wide appeal.

Not really a dwarf, but a slow growing, intriguing upright variety. Excellent rock garden plant or focus plant for a water garden, given that it tolerates flooded roots.

A robust spring-blooming perennial with bright blue flowers, our native camas once clothed Oregon valleys in waves of striking color. Settlement and agriculture over the past 150 years have pushed it to marginal small pockets in wetlands, roadsides, and areas unsuited to cropping. Two ft. tall in blossom.
